SeSTA’s Governing Board

SeSTA’s present Governing Board consists of ten members from different professional background. Out of ten members two members are nominated members of SeSTA staff. One third of the honorary members of Governing Board as may be decided by Governing Board shall retire by rotation by every year. Such retiring governing board members may be co-opted by Governing Board for another term of 3 years. The present Governing Board members of SeSTA are :

Prof.Dulal Goswami, Chairperson
Prof. Goswami is currently with the Department of Environmental science at Guwahati University as a guest faculty. He is retired as a head of the Department of Environmental Science at Guwahati University in 2003. He has also been a Colin Mackenzie Chair Professor at Anna University, Chennai in 2004 and was associated with John Hopkins University (USA), Howard University(USA), Berne University (Switzerland), NASA Project (USA), NRSA, Department of Space, India; Assam Remote Sensing Application Centre at Guwahati. He has more than 150 publications at his name. He has been awarded with the Colin Mackenzie Chair in Geospatial Sciences, Anna University, Chennai; Rockefeller Foundation Grant for research on the Brahmaputra river ; John Hopkins University, USA; Research Fellowship ; East- West Centre Fellowship, USA, to name a few. He holds significant positions at different academic and professional organizations.

Dr. Amiya Sharma, Vice Chairperson
Dr. Amiya Sharma is currently with Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Nidhi (RGVN) as Executive Director. He has a Ph.D. degree from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey and post graduate degree from Delhi School of Economics, New Delhi, India. He worked as GM (planning) in NEDFi, Guwahati. Formerly, He has been a visiting faculty in Department of Economics, Rutgers – The State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick, Associate Professor in Department of Business Administration, Tezpur University, Tezpur, Assam, and lecturer in Ramjas College, Hindu College, Kirori Mal College, Delhi University and visiting lecturer in The Indian Statistical Institute, New Delhi. He also associated with various organisations at national and international level.

Mr. Sarat Chandra Das, Treasurer
Mr. Sarat Chandra Das, is the present Secretary & CEO of Grameen Sahara. He is a graduate in Agricultural Science and holds a PG Diploma in Rural Development. He worked for seven years with RGVN and then one & half years with Sa-Dhan, New Delhi with its Standards sub-group as a Senior Program Executive. Then he worked with HDFC Bank as a Manager (Agri& Microfinance, under Corporate Banking Group) before joining Grameen Sahara as the Chief Executive.

Dr. Mukulesh Baruah, Member
Dr. MukuleshBaruah presently working as Principal and HOD (MBA Dept.) at Girijananda Institute of Management and Technology (GIMT), Guwahati. Formerly he was Deputy Manager, AEDC Ltd, Guwahati, Joint Director, ERDCI, Kolkata and Associate Professor, Assam Institute of Management, Guwahati.

Dr. Ajanta Phatowali, Member
Dr. Ajanta Phatowali passed MBA from Tezpur University in 1998. Currently she is working as DGM with IDBI Bank and based at Kolkata. Prior to IDBI she had worked with NeDFi and ONGC and has vast experience in the finance and Development sector in NE. She has done her PhD from Tezpur University in 2013.

Dr. Anuradha Dutta, Member
Professor Anuradha Dutta, is well known figure on issues related to women, peace and conflict in NE India. Dr. Dutta served Department of Political Science, Guwahati University as Professor for 35 years and was also associated with OKD institute of Social Change and Development, Guwahati as Professor of Peace Studies. She has been associated with Assam Science Society and various civil society organizations and wrote various papers on issues of peace and conflict in NE India.

Dr. Sunil Pal, Member
Dr. Sunil Pal is a Post graduate in Agriculture from Assam Agriculture University and PhD in from Choudhury Swaran Singh Haryana Agriculture University, Hisar. Presently Dr Pal is the Chief Scientist of Regional Agriculture Research Station, Gosaigaon under Assam Agriculture University. He has extensive experience of on field research and extension in lower Assam region.

Mr. Pradyut Bhattacharjee, Ex-officio
Pradyut is a Bachelor in Technology in Computer Science from Assam Engineering College, Jalukbari. He is been working in the grassroots for the last 13 years in Jharkhand, Chattisgarh and the North-East India. He has extensive experience of working on Social Mobilisation, Capacity Building and Institution Building and mentoring young people.

Mr. Aswini Bhattacharjya, Staff Nominee
Mr Bhattacharjya has a Masters degree in Business Administration from Gauhati University .He had worked for last 11 years for promoting livelihood with the tribal’s and disadvantaged communities particularly adivasi women of Jharkhand and Bodos and Koch Rajbangsi’s of Assam with PRADAN.

Syed Lutfur Rahman, Staff Nominee
Mr Rahman has a Bachelors degree in Agriculture Sciences from Assam Agriculture University. He worked with PRADAN for 7 years in Jharkhand before joining SeSTA in 2013. Mr Rahman has deep experience in Community mobilization and agriculture extension. He was involved in promoting a vibrant Agri-Horticulture Production Cluster in Gumla district of Jharkhand

In 2014-15, Governing Board of SeSTA met twice. The first meeting on 23rd August 2014 was attended by 5 honorary members, ex-officio and staff nominee. In this meeting, Governing Board approved the Audit report of SeSTA for FY 2013-14 and suggested some changes in the Annual Activity report of SeSTA 2013- 14. Prior to Governing Board meeting Mr Sarat Ch Das and Dr. Mukulesh Barua visited administrative head office of SeSTA for a meeting of Finance and Audit committee and had a meeting with auditor of SeSTA. In the Second GB meeting on 20th January 2015, 2 honorary members, ex-officio and staff nominee participated. In the year 2014-15, Dr Anuradha Dutta visited along with SeSTA staff to the violence affected areas of Sonitpur district in January 2015. Dr Dulal Ch Goswami, Chairperson, visited SeSTA’s project areas in Chirang district, attended Annual event of SHG federation and interacted with staffs. Dr Goswami also attended workshop organized by World Bank to receive India Development Marketplace Award for SeSTA in July 2014 at Guwahati.
